Playbook #019: Green Energy
š¼ļø The Big Picture
Since green energy got on the radar in 1992, itās been a relatively slow and challenging road. Just like previous revolutions that brought us trains and the first automobiles with new power sources of coal and oil, the revolution towards sustainable, long-term, storable clean energy required (and still requires) massive upfront investment.
The high costs stemmed from R&D (to figure out the most efficient and effective methods), new manufacturing & tooling facilities, specialized equipment, distribution, and of course, education. To completely reinvent the global energy industry, you need to get leaders of countries, businesses, and institutions on board, while educating the masses that changing the ways they live and work is better.
The good news is, we appear to be at a tipping point where technology is advancing quickly enough to significantly cut costs of clean energy production and make it not only a viable solution, but a viable investment in the years to come. Combine that with pushes for increased government incentives and funding, and there are exciting opportunities ahead for both entrepreneurs and investors.
