In today’s knowledge economy, more people than ever realize the value of investing in themselves, and are taking their education and growth into their own hands. As a result, informational products (or “info products”) are not only thriving, they’ve become mainstream.
Platforms like Udemy and Masterclass have made uplevelling your skills easier than ever, and instructors now have endless options for creating and selling their intellectual property around any topic in various forms of infoproducts, such as:
- Ebooks and Print Books
- Online Courses (live or recorded)
- Memberships and Subscriptions
- Spreadsheets, Checklists, and PDFs
While some “gurus” sell the business as simply kicking back on the beach while your course’s cash register goes “cha-ching” 24/7… for most people, and especially at the beginning, this is an active business that you’ll need to be involved in like any other business.
Course creators love that you create your product once, and then your fulfillment is handled automatically, forever. So you can focus on growing your business, creating new products or services, and better serving your community.
However, most info product businesses are tied to a person, making them more difficult (but not impossible) to sell, so you’ll find most operate it as “cash flow” or lifestyle business.
